Back In June 2001 a little movie called The Fast and The Furious came out. It starred Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Michelle Rodriguez and showcased the wonders of illegal street racing. The franchise exploded after that, as two more films where released in 2003  (2 Fast 2 Furious) and 2006 (The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift). Eight years later after it all started, the original cast is back for more in the next chapter of this thrilling franchise.

This go round, Dominic Torretto (Vin Diesel) is out for vengeance after the murder of good friend Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez). Torretto reluctantly re-teams with his old buddy Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) and the feds to bring down her killer, a well-known heroin dealer known as Baraega. Torretto and O’Connor use what they know best – driving - and they pose as drivers to bring down Barega and get redemption for the murder of Letty.

Let’s just say folks this is a film that needs to be seen. As a long-time fan of the franchise, I was not the least bit let down, and it might be the best Furious film yet. If you are fan of the action racing genre this is a dream. The action sequences are fantastic, and believe it or not, the story is actually pretty good. That may come to surprise to some people since this is primarily a fast-car film. But it is intriguing premise that was very well-executed.  Director Justin Lin gets how these movies are supposed to be. Since he has taken with this installment and 2006’s Tokyo Drift they have gotten better. Fans of the franchise will be very be pleased with this one for sure.

It was a great choice to bring back the original cast for this one. It picks up where they left off 8 years ago and takes you on 1:45 of pure fun and adrenaline. The actors look like they’re having good time here. Diesel hasn’t really done anything noteworthy lately, and neither has Walker, for that matter.  This was a great choice by them to get back involved with this great franchise.

I recommend you check this out. It’s a good way to spend ten bucks and a couple of hours. It’s very entertaining, it has a good story and the actors are good for what their supposed to be doing. The cars are fast, the women are hot and the action is non-stop. What more could you want?

4 ½ / 5 Stars
