The Georgetown Project, a Russell Crowe thriller shot more than four years ago, has been picked up by Shudder and through Vertical, will open on June 7th with the new title The Exorcism. Yes, they're making it seem like a sequel to The Pope's Exorcist even though this one was shot first.

A news item worth noting with the FY draft imminent: Apartment 7A is getting released via Paramount+ at a TBD date this fall.

Didn't think there was much of an audience for a Rosemary's Baby prequel, especially seeing how badly received the made-for-TV remake was a decade ago.

Makes sense to not release Kraven so close to Deadpool. If the thing is somehow any good it could have holiday legs.

I'd forgotten completely about They Listen. Makes me wonder about that other Sony horror film that was shot seemingly years ago but remains unreleased, The Haunting in Wicker Park.

As for Kraven, after Morbius and Madame Web, I wouldn't expect much from the next Sinister Six movie not featuring Venom. It might not have the same writers as those two but it does have the equally untalented writers of Transformers: The Last Knight and Men in Black International.

Even if the WOM stinks (which seems likely!), releasing it during it the holidays will max out its BO-which is a great way to minimize the losses for a movie that was inexplicably handed a $100+ mil budget

It got that budget because Sony went all in on the Sinister Six after Spider-Man: Homecoming and Venom. It would have far more sense to just give the rights to the characters back to Disney and concentrate on future Spider-Man movies (where's my Marvel Tails movie, Sony?).

I'm guessing this will be the yearly awards title from Orion.

It looks like Force of Nature: The Dry 2 will be getting at least a semi-wide debut on May 10th. I remember the first one doing reasonably well in my area.

It looks like something will be opening wide on May 31st. Lionsgate has scheduled the Diane Keaton/Kathy Bates/Alfre Woodard/Eugene Levy comedy Summer Camp for then and I'd be surprised if it was a limited opener.

In other news, Ketchup picked up Hellboy: The Crooked Man for domestic distribution a while back, which is the second attempt at rebooting the character. The series is now being handled by one of the Crank directors and the cast is primarily TV-based so I wouldn't expect much with this one.

Terrifier 3 has been moved up to October 11th.

I still think they should move it to November 1st to take advantage of the Christmas setting but October 11th is quite empty at the moment.

Remember when Neon some years back decided to sneak preview The Beach Bum on a Sunday morning? Well, the same distributor revealed Babes will sneaked on the morning of May 21st.

This is a Tuesday, by the way.
