There is news today on the two biggest franchises in film at the moment. In regards to Avatar it has been reported that Cameron's next two films will indeed be Avatar 2 and 3 and he will shoot them back to back. Expected release dates for the films are December 2014 and 2015 respectively. You know a franchise is huge when news of a film four years away gets reported in every blog and trade paper.

Now in the world of Batman, Geoff Boucher of the LA Times Hero Complex blog has an interview piece with Nolan coming out soon but has revealed a few details from the interview. The title of the next Batman film will be The Dark Knight Rises. This sounds pretty bland and perhaps even corny right now but much like Batman Begins I feel the film will make the title.

It was also revealed that neither The Riddler or Mr. Freeze will be featured in the film. I believe most fans of the franchise will be happy to hear this as both characters have already been unsuccessfully tried in previous entries and and I believe most of us want to see Chris Nolan bring someone new into the mix. Speaking of elements that will not be featured, Nolan has convinced WB to stick with IMAX and not transfer to 3D for Batman. Thank goodness. In Nolan we trust.
